Why This Recipe Works

I used frozen watermelon for this smoothie, which makes it super refreshing and hydrating. It’s just perfect for hot days. It’s naturally sweet without any additional sugar.

The plant-based yogurt, either coconut or soy yogurt, and the almond milk create a perfectly creamy texture.

The lime juice and the fresh mint add some nice flavor and freshness. Both, lime and mint, blend perfectly with the taste of watermelon.

And the frozen strawberries provide this smoothie with additional sweetness. I think watermelon doesn’t go well with many other fruits, but watermelon and strawberries are the perfect fit!

The strawberry flavor is not too overpowering, so the watermelon is still the star of this smoothie.

Ingredients That Go Into This Recipe

  • Almond Milk – You could also use soy or oat milk. Make sure it’s unsweetened.
  • Plant-Based Yogurt – I recommend unsweetened coconut or soy yogurt.
  • Watermelon – cut into slices or cubes and frozen.
  • Lime Juice – use fresh lime juice. It really makes a difference.

How To Make This Recipe

1. Step: Juice the lime.

3. Step: Blend until smooth. Use the pulse function a couple of times. If you want a thinner smoothie, add more almond milk or a bit of water.

Recipe Notes:

  • Personally, I love a cold and slushy smoothie, so I used frozen watermelon. If you don’t want it to be this cold, you could also use watermelon from the fridge. Or use more almond milk.
  • It’s also great with a bit of vanilla flavor. Either use vanilla-flavored coconut yogurt or add a bit of vanilla extract.
  • If you want this smoothie to be even creamier, you could add a banana. But please note that the banana flavor will be more pronounced.

FAQs:

What Kind of Blender Should I Use?

As you’re using frozen fruits, I recommend using a high speed blender for the best results. I personally love my Vitamix

Could I Also Make This Smoothie With Fresh Instead of Frozen Watermelon?

I usually prefer frozen watermelon as it makes this smoothie super refreshing. If you don’t have enough time to freeze the watermelon, you could also make this shake with crushed ice instead.

However, the smoothie will have a much thinner consistency and it won’t be as creamy. It will be more like a juice.
