Impossible Foods has launched a collaboration with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s social-justice program Know Your Rights Camp located in the Bay Area.

The Oakland California startup has been donating to many throughout these trying times. They’ve donated to vegan food truck Al Pastor Papi who gave out meals to the needy at the Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church located in the Bayview District.

During the 2019 NFL season, Kaepernick became famous for kneeling during the United States national anthem in a peaceful protest against police brutality and systemic racism.

Following those protests that at the time created a large backlash, Kaepernick decided to found the Know Your Rights Camp who’s mission is to elevate and empower people of color and their communities with leadership, education, community, and organizing for protests.

“Gaining access to healthy and affordable food should not be a challenge for residents of any community,” Patricia Robinson, Director of Community Outreach at Know Your Rights Camp, said.

“Know Your Rights Camp is committed to participating in changing the outcomes and disparities that currently exist for families, while we further grow awareness and acknowledge that maintaining good health and nutrition should not be selective for some, but should be experienced by all.“

Impossible Foods is not only supporting the Know Your Rights Camp but is creating an initiative that will extend their donations to other groups fighting for equality and social justice.

“Impossible Foods’ mission is to reverse the clock on climate change, restore biodiversity, and expand natural ecosystems—results that will literally transform the way earth looks from space,” Impossible Foods’ CEO Patrick O. Brown, MD said.

“At the same time, as an essential business in an unprecedented challenging time, we also exist to serve the most basic and immediate needs of our community—including the food insecurity crisis and social-justice struggles in our hometown region of the San Francisco Bay Area and communities throughout America.”

Since the outbreak started Impossible Foods has helped to feed over 750,000 people with donations of both their food and money. The companies goal is to feed 1 million people by the end of the year.

Let’s not forget we can also have Impossible Foods Meats delivered straight to our doors as well.
